İdil Çağatay was born in İstanbul. She started music by taking piano lessons from Ayla Saydam. In 1994, she started her studies in Istanbul University State Conservatory – in opera department and meanwhile studied in harp department in the same school between the years 1997-2007. She studied opera singing with Güler Keskinkaya, Ayşe Sezerman, Remziye Alper, Elena Kenber, Melek Agnes Yapar and graduated from the university in 2000. She worked at Cemal Reşit Rey Opera as choroist, actress and stage manager assistant in many choral works as well as in the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet between the years 2002-2003 . She worked in many pieces as La Traviata, Prens Igor, Don Giovanni ,La Serva Padrona.

she established the KIRMIZI band in which she was the vocalist, songwriter, composer and the arranger of the band.
She worked in a Turkish-Bulgarian co-production project supported by European Union as musical research expert .
released a maxi single named "Kırmızı". She took the stage with KIRMIZI before Ossy Osbourne as his personal choice at Turkcell Kurucesme Arena.
She took the stage with her band in Festival Mundial, Tilburg, Holland as the invited representor of Turkey.
She established RedRec music production company and published "İsyan/Rebellion" album which consists of her own songs where she was the producer of this album.
The first video clip of the album was "Çekilin başımdan" where Hayko Çepkin was featured in and it was followed by the song "Geri"and then the video clip of "Elveda" which was shot underwater and released in the same year.
The album named "İsyan" attracted attention abroad and was played at American, Argentinian, Chilian and English radios. KIRMIZI took part in the TV program "Inside the Middle East" on CNN International TV.
KIRMIZI, which took the same stage with artists and bands as Ozzy Osbourne, Arch Enemy, Haggard, Destruction, Manowar, got the second prize among 252 professional rock groups from Europe at' Eurock Marathon 2012' and was chosen to take stage before Nina Hagen.
KIRMIZI made a project named "Rock Meets Oriental" with oriental belly dancer Asena where the song named "Kashmir" of Led Zeppelin was re-arranged and presented as the combination of eastern and western music.
The band, took part in "Yalan Dünya" which was one of the most popular tv-shows of Turkey as a performance guest.
İdil Çağatay supported the campaing called "100.000 SMS against violence" of Hurriyet Newspaper's "Stop the violence in family" platform. She made a song called "Araf" and dedicated to women that were the victims of domestic violence.
The song named "Cumhuriyet 90 yaşında" was played in celebrations.
She released first solo project "Çocuk"

The first music video of the album shooted for "Ateşler İçinde", which was a feat with one of the most important names of Turkish Rap; "Ayben
She released a single called "Issız"
She became the sound of international award-winning short movie "Khora" and made it's soundtrack.
She covered and rearranged "Bostorgay" Crimean folk song.
She released a single called "Deli Miyim?" where she humorously criticized the system.
She released a single called "Hasat"
Besides the classical music works, she is going on with new projects and teaching. She has trained a lot of vocal student and she is still teaching.
